Hello 46th District Democrats –

Here's what our organization was up to in April!

⭐ April 21 Membership Meeting

 

Our April 21 Membership Meeting was called to order at 7:07pm and adjourned at 9:54pm. Approximately 132 members and guests attended over the course of the evening. Here are some highlights from the meeting:

Following a welcome and declaration of quorum, by Chair Hunter Brown, and a Land Acknowledgement, by Executive Board Member, Brandon Monson, we covered the following business items:

We were also joined by over a dozen candidates for the following local, county and state offices, who introduced themselves and filled us in on their campaigns:

Now we invite you to join us on May 18, at 7pm on Zoom, for our May Endorsement Meeting, where we'll decide who gets a coveted 46th District Democrats endorsement. Only current PCOs and Members in good standing can cast endorsement votes. Register for the meeting here.

At its first meeting, the delegation elected its officers:

Now, over the next two months, our delegation will offer resolutions and platform amendments to the convention standing committees, leading up to the state convention, taking place June 19-22 at the Spokane Convention Center. Stay tuned for updates from the delegation!

⏰ It’s Time! Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) filings are May 4-8! 

Get ready to file for PCO positions that start December ,1 2026 and last two years. 

NOTE: All current PCOs – both elected and appointed – need to file next week if they would like to maintain being PCOs past November 2026.

WHAT IS A PCO?

PCOs are an important part of our local political process. First and foremost, they serve as the grassroots organizers of our political party, and they help to mobilize voters in their neighborhood. They are the ones who go door-to-door during election season, speaking with neighbors about our endorsed candidates and initiatives. They are also responsible for voting to fill legislative vacancies when a state rep or senator leaves office mid-term.

HOW DO I BECOME ONE?

You can file as a Democratic PCO candidate on the King County Elections website. Filing opens at 8am on Monday, May 4th, and closes at 5pm on Friday, May 8th!

WHAT IS MY PRECINCT?

To find which precinct you are in, enter your address at Find My District. You can also visit the Secretary of State's MyVote portal and enter your name and date of birth. Then click the "Your Voter Registration" link and your precinct name/number will appear down below.

🗣️ May 17: In-person Candidate Meet & Greet + Forum

Whether you’re a longtime political junkie or just starting to pay attention to this year’s races, we hope you'll join us for our in-person Candidate Meet & Greet + Forum! Grab a drink, meet your neighbors, ask questions, and get to know the candidates in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

This is your chance to meet candidates running for the offices that 46th LD voters will help decide in the August Primary — including local, county, and state races – all while enjoying complimentary bites and a cash bar.

• 3:30–5:00pm — Candidate Forum

For the Meet & Greet, we’ve invited all candidates appearing on the August Primary ballot for races impacting 46th LD voters.

For the Forum, we've invited candidates for these races:
• Seattle City Council District 5
• 46th Legislative District House of Representatives, Position 1
• King County Assessor

Come meet the candidates to hear directly from them on the issues, ahead of our online Endorsement Meeting on Monday, May 18. We hope to see you there!

🗳️ May 18: Endorsement Meeting on Zoom

Don't miss our May 18 Endorsement Meeting – happening on a rare Monday night – to help decide which campaigns get to put the 46th District Democrats on its list of endorsements (in time to have it listed in their King County Voter's Pamphlet submissions)!

The 46th District Democrats endorsement is highly sought after and Monday, May 18 is when we make our selections. Endorsed candidates will then be featured on the GOTV literature that our powerhouse PCOs and volunteers take to voters' doors this summer!

Essential Endorsement Meeting information:

  • REGISTER for the Endorsement Meeting here
    • We will open the Zoom line at 6:30pm to get everyone credentialed. The meeting will begin promptly at 7pm.
  • READ the Standing Endorsement Rules here 

Meeting Participation:

  • VOTING CODES will be sent to eligible voters (for use on balloted votes only), at the email address provided for their 46th District Democrats membership. For questions regarding voting codes, please email Effective Meetings Chair, Nathan Antonio, at [email protected]

Review Membership Status:

  • NEW MEMBERS – the deadline for new members to join in time to vote at the Endorsement meeting has passed.
  • RENEWING MEMBERS – 2025 members can still renew 24 hours before the meeting, to be eligible to vote. Visit https://www.46dems.org/become_a_member to renew your membership.

This is a great time to renew your membership! (or start a new one), as memberships expired on January 31, in accordance with our Standing Rules.

Dues support the costs associated with running the 46th Legislative District, and give you voting power at Membership Meetings, for such items as endorsing candidates, ballot measures and resolutions; electing some executive board positions like At-Large Members of the Executive Board; and adopting and amending our budget.

We have several contribution levels:

  • Student / Limited Income ($10)
  • Individual ($40)
  • 4600 Club ($100)
  • Friend of the 46th ($250)
  • Benefactor of the 46th ($500)
