Recall Sheriff Fortney and Endorsement Rules Draft

We have two opportunities this week to make a difference and offer your ideas – all in aid of protecting civil rights and electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

Job #1: Recall Sheriff Fortney Campaign:

There is still time to help with the Recall Sheriff Fortney campaign in Snohomish County, but time is running short.  Sheriff Fortney is everything that is wrong with conservative “constitutional” law enforcement – civil rights violations, bad cops restored to duty after misconduct, bizarre interpretations of law, including encouraging people to violate the pandemic social distancing.

Petitions are needed back no later than March 4th, so this week and the upcoming weekend is critical!

If you can phone bank, or do socially-distanced physical canvassing (dropping off and picking up petitions at a safe distance and such), please directly email our own KCDCC Rep. Anne Udaloy who is coordinating volunteers from the north end at [email protected]

The campaign also needs funds for printing and postage to mail petitions, so if you can spare a donation to the Recall Fortney campaign, please click here: Donate to Recall Fortney

Every little bit helps remove Sheriff Fortney!

Endorsement Rules Draft: Your comments are welcome!

We are in the middle of the 2021 Endorsement Standing Rules Endorsement development process, and are seeking the input of members in good standing. (Members in good standing are PCOs, or 2021 dues paid, or a current dues waiver in place.)

From November through January, the Endorsement Rules Task Force collected ideas for the 2021 Endorsement Rules.  As many as were practicable and feasible were incorporated into the draft rules.  Before the executive board forwards a final proposal to the membership for consideration at the March 17th meeting, we would like to hear from you.

For the next week, the current draft proposed endorsement rules are available on the 46th district website here.  If you have comments, you can submit them until 11:59pm on Sunday, Feb 28 at this link.

This is NOT the final proposal.  After reading the current draft of the proposal, members in good standing may offer comments and ideas until midnight on Sunday, February 28th.  Ideas that are feasible or a clear improvement may be integrated into the proposal before it is presented.

We will also hold two Zoom Q & A sessions on Friday, February 26 – one from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, and the second from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Feel free to bring your questions!  The link to register for either one is here, and that will be the same registration link for both sessions.

Please note: We will vote upon on our 2021 endorsement standing rules at our regular March meeting on 3/17/2021 at 7:00pm via Zoom. The Zoom registration link for the March meeting will be located on the home page after March 7th.  Only members in good standing 21 days prior to the meeting (Feb 26th) may participate in the discussion and vote.  If you are a district resident, you can join the 46th District Democrats at this link.

The Executive Board will publish a final proposal on March 7th, in anticipation of a vote at the March 17th meeting.

If you any questions about the process, feel free to bring them to the Q&A sessions on Friday, or send them to:  [email protected]
