Call to General Election Endorsement Meeting - 7:00pm, Weds. August 31st!

Greetings, Fearless 46ers!

We hope that your summer has been either productive or relaxing, or both.  As we enjoy the last days of the season, it's time to look towards autumn, and all that fall brings to us, especially the General Election!

On August 31, we will have our second meeting of the year that is principally focused on endorsements.  We have some ballot measures to consider, some races that did not appear on the ballot for the Primary, and of course, State House Position 2.

This is the formal call to the August 2022 Meeting of the 46th LD Democrats on Wednesday 8/31/22 at 7:00pm - held via Zoom.

Click here to register for the August regular + endorsements meeting.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting via Zoom.

We should also take a moment to congratulate Darya Farivar and Lelach Rave on advancing to the General Election in the House Position 2 race, and to thank Nina Martinez, Melissa Taylor, and Dr. Nancy Connolly for their well-run races and thoughtful dialogue with the community on the issues facing us all.

Are you wondering if you, your family members or friends are members in good standing, and eligible to vote at the endorsement meeting?  Find the complete membership list here:

Public Meeting on Redistricting Justice for Seattle

Monday, July 11th from 6:00PM – 7:30PM (via Zoom)

To Register: http://www.bit.ly/rjs-map

Each city has different redistricting processes, rules, and city council district map structures. The Redistricting Justice for Washington coalition is working with community leaders and organizations to ensure that voting rights of people of color are protected, and that city council lines across Washington will create fair representation for communities—not partisan or special interests.

On Monday, May 11th, join the Redistricting Justice for Seattle campaign to learn about why redistricting Seattle City Council is important, how to participate in the process, and help inform a community-led citywide map proposal.

Green residential energy codes advance – stay tuned!

At our last meeting, we approved signing on to a letter to the Washington State Building Code Council, urging the adoption of new “Build Green” residential energy codes.  These proposals have been voted to advance, and will soon be open for public comment.  Stay Tuned!

Below, we are sharing 4 messages which can be cut and shared to your social media:

The WA State Building Code Council voted to advance the *most* #climate friendly state residential energy codes in the country 👏 These proposed code amendments will be open for public comment in the coming weeks — stay tuned!! #CleanCodes #HealthyHomes

Homes & buildings are one of the largest & fastest-growing sources of #climate pollution in WA. The WA State Building Code Council has voted to advance #cleancodes that would change this, including making homes more comfortable with #heatpumps for new construction.

The WA State Building Code Council voted to advance #cleancodes that will reduce the harmful outdoor & indoor air pollution associated with the use of gas systems in new homes. Let’s build with #electric heat & cooking instead! Public comment opportunities coming soon.

Why #BuildElectric? Children in homes with gas stoves have a 42% increased risk of asthma symptoms. The WA State Building Code Council voted to advance #cleancodes to build new homes with clean electric appliances like #heatpumps ⚡️🔌💡
