46th LD Blog

Two GOTV Events this Weekend! Friday 7/23, and Saturday 7/24!

Greetings 46th District Democrats Supporters!

We’re Back!

Thanks to the steady leadership of President Biden, our hero Dr. Anthony Fauci, and all of the hundreds of thousands of medical professionals and volunteers who are getting America vaccinated, it is now safe to resume many activities, and America is Building Back Better!

This upcoming weekend, we have some safely distanced, outdoor campaign activities to support our endorsed candidates in the Primary.

If you are vaccinated and itching for some Get-Out-The-Vote activities, we would love to have you join us!

We have two days of action coming up this Friday and Saturday:

Friday 7/23: 4pm, Maple Leaf Park, Seattle – Evening Canvass featuring Brianna Thomas for Seattle City Council

Saturday 7/24: 10am, The Hangar in Kenmore – Saturday Canvass featuring Nigel Herbig and Debra Srebnik for Kenmore City Council

Many of our PCOs are already walking their own precincts - Thanks to everyone who has picked up a packet already!

It's not too late to get involved!

But we have precincts that have no PCO, and we would love to have someone adopt those precincts for the day.  You don’t need to be a PCO to have a big impact on a precinct.  You also don’t need to live in the exact area – Seattle and LFP folks can canvass in Kenmore, Folks from Kenmore and Lake Forest Park can canvass in Seattle.

Please note – please bring a mask, and please be vaccinated.  We will be doorknocking and literature dropping on porches, so we will be outside.

Friday evening:

For anyone who can make it on Friday 7/23, we're going to be teaming up with the Brianna Thomas campaign to canvass in North Seattle.  We'll be meeting at Maple Leaf Reservoir Park at 4 pm, please email [email protected] and let us know so we can have an idea of the right amount of packets to prepare. (If you decide late, it’s totally OK to show up even if you are not signed up.  Many hands make light work!)

Maple Leaf Park is located at 1020 NE 82nd St, Seattle, WA 98115 generally between 83rd and 87th streets along Roosevelt Ave NE in Seattle.

Saturday morning:

Then on Saturday 7/24, we'll be up in Kenmore knocking on doors with our very own Debra Srebnik and Nigel Herbig!  From 10 am to noon we will meet at the Hangar in Kenmore where we'll be sending canvassing shifts out to our PCO-less precincts in Kenmore.  Just meet us at The Hangar in Kenmore to pick up a walk packet!  We can cover all of Kenmore in one day if we have 12 volunteers show up.  Help us reach this goal!

The Hangar at Town Square is located at 6728 NE 181st St, Kenmore, WA 98028

Note for PCOs:

Lastly, if you are a PCO and have not picked up the packet for your precinct yet, these days of action are a perfect time to stop by and get that as well.  Just email [email protected] to let the district know if our Vice Chair and PCO leader Andrzej Montano should bring your walk packet to one of these events.

Thanks for helping us turn out Democratic voters this year and boost turnout in the Primary!

Hope to see you there!

Ballots are Live! 46th LD 2021 Primary Endorsements

The 46th District Democrats made the following endorsements for the 2021 Primary:

King County Proposition 1 – Best Starts for Kids

Best Starts for Kids will be up for renewal as a Special Election held concurrently with the Primary on August 3, 2021.  The 46th District Democrats endorses a “Yes” or “Approve” vote on Proposition 1.

Best Starts for Kids is a voter-approved initiative to help put every baby born and every child raised in King County on a path toward lifelong success.

It invests in prevention and early intervention strategies that promote healthier, more resilient children, youth, families and communities. It is considered the most comprehensive approach to early childhood development in the United States, starting with prenatal support, sustaining the gain through teenage years, and investing in safe, healthy communities that reinforce progress.

Best Starts for Kids is making research based on the latest neuroscience available to all parents and caregivers so that every child and youth in our region has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Endorsed Candidates  appearing on the Primary Ballot on August 3, 2021:

  • Kenmore City Council Position 4: Nigel Herbig
  • Kenmore City Council Position 6: Debra Srebnik
  • Seattle City Council District 8: Teresa Mosqueda
  • Seattle City Council Position 9: Brianna Thomas
  • Northshore School District: Amy Cast
  • Northshore School District: Sandy Hayes
  • Northshore School District: Jaqueline McGourty

Races considered in May which will appear in the Primary, on which the district membership took no action.

This should not be construed negatively for any candidate involved in these races.  Often when there are multiple strong candidates in a race, support may be spread out over candidates, and no single candidate can reach the 60% voting threshold required by the 46th District Democrats for an endorsement in the Primary.

We will automatically consider these races again at our endorsement meeting for the General Election.

The only candidates listed are those who met our requirements to be eligible for endorsement by our organization and were considered at the May endorsement meeting.  There may be other non-Democrats appearing on the ballot, as well.

We strongly recommend that voters consider voting for one of these candidates in the Primary, to have the best possible choices in the General Election.
