46th District Dems August 2025 News Roundup

Hello 46th District Democrats –

Here's what our organization was up to in August!

🗳️ PRIMARY ELECTION: 46th Endorsed Candidates come out on top!

The political pendulum swung progressive on Primary Election night, and stayed that way through certification day on Aug. 19, with all but one 46th endorsed candidate and campaign making it through to the General Election!

THANK YOU to EVERYONE who door-belled, lit dropped, canvassed, sent text messages or just plain VOTED in this year's Primary Election. YOU made an impact!

⭐ Join us to Canvass for Katie Wilson!

Our endorsed candidate for Seattle Mayor, Katie Wilson, took home 50.8% of the Primary Election vote (Woot!). Now, help us get her over the General Election finish line.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sponsoring door knocking events for Katie Wilson in the Licton Springs and Lake City.

Please join us at one or more of the following canvasses to help ensure every voter in the 46th gets a chance to hear Katie’s message.

Renew Membership to Vote on the Sept. 16 Endorsements

With two more School Board races (District 5 and District 7)  to endorse in, we'll be holding those endorsement votes during our September 16 Regular Membership Meeting. Register here!

We want YOU to be part of our endorsement process! But since memberships expire on January 31 of each year (in accordance with our Standing Rules), you may not be eligible to vote on Sept. 16, if you still haven't renewed your membership for the 2025 calendar year.

So join or renew today! (if you were a paid member in 2024, you will be eligible to vote one (1) day after you renew your dues or receive a dues wavier. New members are eligible to vote 21 days after paying dues or receiving a dues waiver).

Not sure what your membership status is? Email Membership Chairs Kathy Sakahara and Cat Munsen at [email protected] to find out what it is.

Refer to the Bylaws and Standing Rules for more information. Renew and/or learn how to receive a waiver here: https://www.46dems.org/become_a_member. Then join us on Sept. 16 to vote on our remaining endorsements for the General Election!

No problem! You can find recordings of many of our past meetings on our 46th District Dems YouTube Channel (subscribe today!) And now that we live stream Regular Membership Meetings directly on YouTube, most recordings can be found under the "Live" tab.

📌 Last but not least ….

This is a great time to renew your membership! (or start a new one), as 2024 memberships expired on January 31, in accordance with our Standing Rules.

Dues support the costs associated with running the 46th Legislative District, and give you voting power at Membership Meetings, for items such as endorsing candidates, ballot measures and resolutions; electing some executive board positions (such as Secretary, Treasurer and At-Large Members); and adopting and amending our budget. Members also get to participate on Committees and Caucuses.

We have several contribution levels:

  • Student / Limited Income* ($10)
  • Individual ($40)
  • 4600 Club ($100)
  • Friend of the 46th ($250)
  • Benefactor of the 46th ($500)

* "Limited" means that paying the full membership dues would present a significant financial hardship on you. This is not a rate for people who just want to come in for one specific meeting and/or vote.

A message from your Chair and Vice Chair ~

THANK YOU for reading, and for being part of our dynamic organization. We’re excited that an endorsed candidate in every race made it through the primary, but our work isn’t done. We have a lot of work ahead of us over the next 2+ months, but together, the BLUE WAVE we’ve been fueling will ensure our endorsed candidates are elected in November! We're excited to be walking and working alongside you to Get Out The Vote!!!

One Week til Election Day

One week from today, Tuesday, August 5, is Primary Election Day!
.  Voters (YOU!) will decide which candidates make it through to the General Election on November 4.

If you haven’t turned in your ballot already, pop it in the outgoing mailbox so it's postmarked by August 5, or better yet, turn it in to a ballot drop box near you.

Still not sure who to vote for?

We've got you covered ...

Every election, we review candidate questionnaires and host forums, then vote on who to recommend (i.e. endorse). We have a high bar—endorsing only when over 60% of our members agree on the candidates or campaigns that best represents our communities' values. This year, we've endorsed ....
