Hello 46th District Democrats –

This month's Recap email is a 2-for-1, covering both the May 16 Membership Meeting, and the May 21 Endorsement Meeting.

🔵 May 16 Regular Membership Meeting

With approximately 164 members and guests in attendance, some highlights from the meeting were:

But the big news of the night is that we approved the appointment of 41 Uncontested PCOs and 17 Contested PCOs. HUGE THANKS to all who stepped up to work for our district and help us elect democrats!!

🔵 May 21 Endorsement Meeting

With approximately 211 members and guests in attendance, some highlights from the meeting were:

  • We approved the following endorsements:
    • County Assessor: John Wilson
    • King County Council - District 4: Sarah Reyneveld
    • Port of Seattle Commission - Position 2: Sam Cho
    • Port of Seattle Commission - Position 5: Fred Felleman
    • Seattle City Council - District 4: Ron Davis
    • Seattle City Council - District 5: Nilu Jenks
    • Seattle City Council - District 6: Dan Strauss


Congratulations to all our endorsed candidates, and our sincere appreciation to every candidate who joined us to address our membership and help us learn more about them.

And last but not least ...

OUR BIGGEST THANKS OF ALL to Effective Meetings Committee Chair, Bryce Cannatelli, and all of our tally, credentialing and meeting volunteers who help our Endorsement Meeting run so smoothly. From the planning, to the strategizing, to the pure sweat-inducing work before and during the meeting, all of you made this meeting, and it’s early end, possible. THANK YOU!!

Thanks as well, to all who attended one or both meetings this month, and we hope to see you next month at our next Regular Membership Meeting + Endorsement Meeting (for School Board and Judicial races) on Tuesday, June 20 at 7pm!

Sunday, May 21 ~ 46th District Dems Endorsement Meeting

It's Endorsements Season! By Friday, we will know who will be on the August ballot, and on Sunday, we need YOU to help decide who will get the 46th Dems Endorsement. Endorsed candidates will be featured on our GOTV fliers that PCOs and volunteers will take to voters' doors.

Essential information on how we endorse here

  • Register for the Zoom meeting here
  • The Endorsement Rules are here 
  • The Candidate Forum Recording is here
  • The Candidate Questionnaires are here 
    • Each candidate was asked to complete the King County Democrats Questionnaire before our upcoming endorsement meeting. Questionnaires will be added as they come in, so check back often. 
    • Only candidates submitting questionnaires to KCD by 9 am on Saturday are eligible for endorsement (there may be a delay in when they are in our folder).

 

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on May 21, 2023. We will open the Zoom line at 12:30pm to get everyone credentialed. The meeting will begin promptly at 1pm.

  • Please register in Zoom in advance for this meeting. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing the link and dial-in information for joining the meeting. 

Eligibility to Vote

  • Only current members may vote. This includes newly appointed PCOs.
  • If you are not a current member but were a member in 2022, you have until 1pm on Saturday to pay your dues and become eligible to vote. (Note: this is an update to our Standing Rules.)
  • If you were not a member in 2022, the deadline to become a member and vote in this meeting has passed (it was April 30th).
